T-56 Transmission Crossmember and Tunnel Cap for ’67-69 Camaros
Fitting the popular T-56 Magnum transmission into the first-generation Camaro, even with aftermarket crossmembers, is commonly a compromise in that the transmission tailshaft is lowered to clear the OEM tunnel. This lowered position alters the drivetrain angle, rendering the universal joint and pinion angles incorrect. Accommodating compromise- and correct-position T-56 installations, Chassisworks’ bolt-in, tubular transmission crossmember ships with an optional use spacer to position the transmission at the lowered or correct height. Maintaining the correct drivetrain angle requires modifying the OEM tunnel. Chassisworks offers a pre-fabricated, tunnel cap that follows the correct radius and taper of the OEM sheet metal and increases tunnel height up to 2”. These products are for use on 1967-69 Camaros or Firebirds equipped with Chassisworks or OEM frame clips (requires adapter kit).
